Haredale Farm 1824/3
A 355ha farm located near the town of Kei Road in the Amahlathi Local Municipality of Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.
Bought in 2017 and established a Livestock enterprise (Beef Cattle and Goats) and well hay production, employing 5 permanent workers and offer placement for 2 graduate trainees.
Short-Term Plans include securing neighbouring farm 1824/5 measuring 255 ha to make the whole farming area to be 620 ha of which 70ha will be arable (divided into 55ha dryland and 15 ha irrigation) and rest 550h to grazing. Increase current livestock to 300 breeding cows and 200 breeding goats
Plans are afoot to establish an on-farm feedlot to finish slaughter cows. Secure more grazing land to increase beef herd to 500 breeding cows
Kibiti Farming
Location
Kibiti Farm is located at Gxulu Location Keiskammahoek and is part of the Keiskammahoek Irrigation Scheme
Operations
In partnership with the Community the operations is focusing in open field irrigation producing lurcene & vegetables and controlled farming under shade nets producing sweet cherry peppers employing 15 permanent workers and providing 40 temporal workers on peak season and offering placement for 3 graduate trainees.
Short-Term Plans
Include increasing the ha under shade net to18ha, built a vegetable packhouse linked to a hay shed, increase the area under irrigation by adding 30 more ha. .
